Australian Information Security Incident Reported: November 2 2018


Guests of two of Tasmania’s luxury hotels are warned their personal data may have been accessed, with the owner β€” casino giant Federal Group β€” telling people to delete emails sent from the resorts.

In a statement, a Federal Group spokesperson said it confirmed it “experienced an unauthorised access to a third-party email distribution service and some past guests received an unusual spam-type email”.

Tasmanian voters’ details stolen in data breach | ABC News (Australia)

The details of about 4,000 Tasmanians who voted express in the last state and Upper House elections have been stolen.

“We’ve been informed that it includes the name, date of birth, email address and enrolment address of all the electors that applied for an express vote at the 2018 Legislative Council and state elections,” Tasmanian Electoral Commission (TEC)

Cyber attackers have targeted the Cadbury chocolate factory in Tasmania, demanding a ransom in bitcoin currency.

The Tasmanian Cadbury chocolate factory has been targeted by a ransomware attack which is affecting the company’s IT system.

Production at the company’s Claremont facility was halted when the computer system went down about 9:30pm on Tuesday in what was described as a “cyber attack”.
