In a recent cyber security incident, the website of Onestep Disability Services, a Western Australia-based organization, was defaced by the pro-Palestinian hacktivist group DXPLOIT. The defacement, which occurred on December 4, 2024, displayed pro-Islamic content and the group’s logo.
The message left by DXPLOIT emphasized their stance against oppression and promoted a peaceful view of Islam. The defaced website read, “PAWNED BY DXPLOIT,” and included a statement asserting that Islam is a religion of peace and that Muslims are not terrorists.
Onestep Disability Services was unaware of the defacement until it was alerted by Cyber Daily. The organization quickly responded by contacting their web hosting provider, GoDaddy, and restoring the website. They assured users that no personal data was compromised, as their website does not store participant or personal information.
In a statement, Onestep Disability Services highlighted the importance of investing in robust security measures to protect against such cyber threats. “This incident serves as an important reminder for website owners to invest in premium security measures and stay vigilant against emerging cyber threats,” the organization stated.
The incident underscores the growing threat of cyber-attacks by hacktivist groups and the need for continuous vigilance and enhanced security protocols to protect digital assets.
