Australian Info and Cyber Security Last Week 15th May 2023
Last week on the Australian cyber front ended up being a very busy week.Three new breaches, leading off the pack Ambulance Victoria internally exposing private medical results to the whole organisation. TechnologyOne had its Microsoft 365 environment compromised going into a trading halt. Then the Medusa ransomware group demanded $100k with 7 days to pay from the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre in New Soth Wales.
There was an update from Fire Rescue Victoria on an incident they suffered in December 2022 taking out their dispatch system. Five months later they are still trying to get the system fixed…. Many lessons in this one.
The federal budget was released trigging several stories relating to cyber and a boost for privacy. On the topic of privacy, a review of the Privacy Act was released, and Australia and New Zealand privacy watchdogs are conducting a joint investigation into the Latidude breach.
Hope you all have recovered from #AusCert2023.
