Australian Information Security Incident Reported: June 23 2017

A Right to Information request reveals security cameras at Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane, have been compromised with all audio recording now turned off.

A Moreton Bay Regional Council spokeswoman rejected the cameras were hacked and said “there had been no unauthorised access to council’s CCTV network”.

But documents obtained by ABC News under Right to Information showed some of the cameras had “compromised IP addresses”.

An email sent by the council’s principal security officer in February said arrangements were being made with the council’s preferred security company – AFN Solutions – to fix a security breach related to the cameras.
