Australian National University investigating alleged cyber attack by FSociety ransomware group

No ransom amount was given; however, society is threatening to publish the data within seven days.

Summary: The Australian National University (ANU) is currently investigating a significant cyber attack after being targeted by the FSociety ransomware group. The Canberra-based institution is working closely with the Australian Cyber Security Centre to address the incident.

Data Compromised: The ransomware group claims to have extracted all data before encrypting the servers and has threatened to leak the data within seven days if their demands are not met. The exact amount of stolen data remains undisclosed.

Response: “We are investigating and are working with the Australian Cyber Security Centre,” the spokesperson said. “We have no further updates at this stage.”

Impact: Currently unknow, through servers have been reported encrypted by attacker.
