Overseas hackers break into Sydney’s north shore Mosman Council salary database

A “small amount of money” was siphoned in the incident.

A government inquiry into cybersecurity has heard overseas hackers fraudulently obtained salary information of a Mosman Council employee earlier this year. A council spokeswoman said a “small amount of money” was siphoned in the incident which was reported when a staff member did not receive their pay in February.
