Incident: Amazing Rentals data breach in NT, Qld, prompts warning by Information Commissioner over identity theft | ABC News (Australia)

Australian Information Security Incident Reported: September 22 2017

Australia’s privacy watchdog is warning former customers of leasing business Amazing Rentals to take precautions against identity fraud in the wake of a data breach that saw personal details from 4,000 people in the Northern Territory and Queensland made available online.

The information included drivers licences, credit application forms, Centrelink details and bank statements, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) said.

The breach involved 26,000 documents belonging to 4,000 people in Darwin, Caboolture and Toowoomba.
